DANCE FUZION will feature choreographic works created by Ms. Travers. The new works reflect multicultural themes, images and world music including a new choreography titled, Memories of the Stone with an original music score by Mohammed Charri. Memories of the Stone was inspired by images of the ruins of Carthage and the contrast between the ancient and modern worlds. Drawing upon the rhythms of Cuba, Ms Travers will also present Ritmo Del Corazon, a lively, upbeat salsa dance which fuses traditional contemporary dance with salsa. Ceremony derived it’s imagery from the grasslands of Africa. Performed to traditional music of Burundi, it is an energetic solo which fuses traditional African Dance styles with Contemporary Modern Dance. Hip Hop Boogie was created to an exciting, up-beat music score by Mohamed Charri which fuses traditional Tunisian melodies with driving hip hop rhythms. The USF dancers perform their non-stop dance rhythms which combine Hip Hop, Contemporary Modern Dance and Capoeira Dance styles of Brazil. Recuerdos Del Camino is a passionate and dramatic solo reflecting the life and struggle of the Gypsies. It is performed to an original violin sound score by Sebastian Birch. Moon Over Bou Kornine is an excerpt from the choreography Between Desert and Sea, which was originally presented in Tunisia in 1997 when Tunis was named the Cultural Capital of the Mediterranean by UNESCO. This choreography draws it’s imagery from the beauty and landscape of Tunisia and is performed to an original sound score by Ahmed Ben Dhiab. Caprice is a light hearted, playful duet performed to the music of Franz Schubert. The evening of choreography ranges from dramatic and passionate to lighthearted and up-beat. The concert will feature seven exceptionally talented USF dancers who will travel for the first time to Tunisia |
