The Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma was founded in 1995 by musicians and
lovers of musical culture, it is made up of musicians of the Lazio
region and Rome,particularly.
Structured in four ensembles (symphonic orchestra, chamber orchestra, strings orchestra, brass quintet and ensemble) it has produced 280 concerts for public administrations, corporate bodies, associations, and private parties. It has collaborated with numerous artists such as: the singers Katia Ricciarelli, Wilma Vernocchi, Arthur Testa, Ivano Costantino, Sergio Leone, Mirella Caponetti, Sabina Macculi, Montserrat Sanromaˆ, etc.; the soloist Massimo Quarta (winner of the Paganini prize), Danilo Rossi (soloist at La Scala), Mark Fornaciari (ex soloist of the "Solisti Veneti"), Ciro Scarponi (clarinettist), etc. It has produced several concerts in Rome and Lazio, in Umbria, Tuscany, Romagna, both in outdoor settings and in prestigious theaters. On the occasion of the national party on June 2nd, for three consecutive years (1999, 2000, 2001) it has held concerts in Addis Ababa for the Italian Institute of Culture of Addis and the Italian embassy in Ethiopia. They were memorable concerts because of the artistic, cultural, and diplomatic results, and for the audience as well. Also it should be noted that they performed at an important religious event in preparation for the Jubilee at Saint Peter's in the prescence of Pope John Paul II. It has given premiere performances of five unpublished oratorios in the years 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004 with television recordings and publications on compact disc and musical press. Particulary is the production of a double CD of music of G. De Paolis, a composer in Civitavecchia who lived and wrote in the first half of the 20th century. For this CD, the Orchestra has produced a live concert with Katia Ricciarelli in the Theater Traiano in Civitavecchia of this music that had never been published or performed with an orchestra. In February 2003 it held concerts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (E.A.U.) organized by the Embassy of Italy in the United Arab Emirates and by the Italian consulate in Dubai. Also of importance is the concert held December 13th, 2003, in the theater of the Government Cultural Association of Abu Dhabi; the concert inaugurated the week of “Italian style 2003” organized by the embassy of Italy. In september 8th 2005 it has performed, with great international singers, in the Loreto's church for the "Concert Totus Tuus, in memory of John Paul II", recorded and trasmetted by Rai International with the partecipation of Rai Uno; in this concert was realized a DVD distributed in April 2006 with "Il Messaggio della Santa Casa", monthly newspaper of the Loreto's Sanctuary. The repertoire of the orchestra spans from the Baroque to the music of today, from instrumental and soloistic music to lyric and opera.
Chamber Orchestra. It is a smaller ensemble. The size varies from 25 to 40 people between a medium-sized string ensemble, some woodwinds, some brass and percussion where it is needed. It is ready to perform baroque music (Bach, Handel), contemporary music and theatrical performances
EZIO MONTI conductor, composer, pianist He has studied orchestral conducting with Franco Ferrara and composition with Costante Fantini and Paolo Renosto (and finishing his studies with F. Donatoni and S. Sciarrino). He has orchestrated and directed the following Oratorios in three parts for single, polyphonic chorus and symphonic orchestra "La Divina Misericordia" (1998) (a work that allowed him the great privilege of a private informal encounter with thelate John Paul II), "La Madre della Misericordia" (2000) and "San Giuseppe" (2002) by Father Carlo Colafranceschi. The events have been transmitted on TV by TelePace (Vatican City) and SAT 2000. Il Melograno Records has published these works in 2-CD format. He has elaborated, orchestrated and directed the compositions of De Paolis, an author who lived and worked in the first half of the 20th century in Civitavecchia. Melograno Records has also published on 2 CDs the live performance in the Theatre Traiano di Civitavecchia with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma on November 29, 2003 with the special guests Katia Ricciarelli, Sabina Macculi and Maurizio Zanchetti. Since 1986 Monti has collaborated frequently with RAI TV as an executor and director, and also as a composer and author in several television programs. He has made arrangements, directed soloists, chorus and the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI di Milano in the televised musical by the director Giovanna Gagliardo "Viva l'Italia- our history in music", produced and transmitted from RAI DUE, for which he won first prize in the music section of the international festival of television in Nizza in 1995. He is an author with Alfredo Franco of RAI UNO (TV) "Natura in Concerto" and with Sergio Spina, the program in 4 parts "Mixer Musica", transmitted by RAI DUE and presented by Spina. Also, he has composed: music for the television film of Gillo Pontecorvo "il ritorno ad Algeri" (RAI DUE); "Mixer nel mondo", 10 grandi reportages (in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Countries) on RAI DUE; "Extra" in 8 parts (European coproduction transmitted in Italy, Germany, England, France, Spain, Hungary, Canada, Australia, etc.); numerous television introductions (Format, L'edicola del TG3, Omnibus, Mixer Musica, TG Salute, etc). Its music has been inserted also in "La piovra" of RAI UNO. He has published 3 CD for the Fonit-Cetra and one for the RCA-BMG Ariola with its compositions and directed by himself. He has published numerous concert pieces, educational books for piano, harmony, solfeggio, and ensemble music. As director he has produced numerous concerts with choruses and orchestras such as: Orchestra Sinfonica della Provincia di Bari, Orchestra Sinfonica di Shoumen (Bulgaria), Orchestra da Camera dell'Emilia, Filarmonica Santasofiese, Orchestra della Romagna Toscana, All Strings Ensemble, Orchestra Novo Prometeo, Coro e orchestra dell' Accademia Musicale Tiberina, etc. He is principal conductor of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma with which he has carried out many concerts in Italy and in foreign countries: recently this orchestra has performed a great concert in Abu Dhabi (Arab Emirates) for the occasion of the inauguration of the manifestation "Italian Style" organized by the Embassy of Italy in the Emirates. On October 22, 23, and 24, 2004, he has conducted in Rome and in Bucchianico for the world premiere of the sacred oratorio for soli, polyphonic chorus and symphonic orchestra "San Camillo De Lellis" of Father Carlo Colafranceschi (He also did the orchestration). The oratorio, with the presence of the soprano soloist Katia Ricciarelli, has created great enthusiasm and has been transmitted from SAT 2000 and TelePace TV. Currently he is a teacher at the Conservatory of Music in L'Aquila.
